"The problem is we are not eating food anymore. We are eating food-like products."

~Dr. Junger, Hungry For A Change film

After looking into countless options for a nutrition plan, I couldn't find the right one for me. I wasn't prepared to dish out an extra $300+ a month on top of my monthly grocery spending for a few small meals, unnecessary powders, or processed protein bars. I wanted to eat natural, healthy foods on my own budget and on my own time.

I believe that everyone has the ability to find a personalized nutrition plan through education, trail-and-error, and exploring their local grocery stores. The OGF recipes provide you with healthier options that use every-day ingredients found in your kitchen or easily at the store. Discover meals like Thai Turkey Lettuce Wraps or Black Bean Protein Patties, and sweet treats like Banana Cookie Thins and Key Lime Ice Cream. Vegetarian options and information on vitamins and supplements are also available.

My mission is to help the OGF members grow their bodies organically; not just by eating organic food per-say, but by shaping ones body and mind naturally, safely, and fundamentally. Each recipe is created, tested, and tweaked by the team at Organic Growth Fitness, with nutrition facts calculated through MyFitnessPal*.

"Although eating well is necessary for a positive lifestyle, I don't believe that eating clean 100% of the time is ultimately the best for our health. I believe that donuts, ice cream, and cupcakes are good for the soul. They bring me, and many other people, happiness. While many claim that the key is moderation, that can be an extremely difficult method to follow. This is coming from someone who used to regularly consume an entire family-size bag of cheese puffs and call it dinner.

I deal with moderation today by allowing myself 1-2 'unhealthy' meals per week, which may be something as small as a brownie, or a large Italian meal full of pasta, meats, and lots of cheese. This eating style allows me to enjoy the pleasures and cultures of life. When I spend energy on a 'poor' meal, I'll try my best to make up for it the next day by eating light or by enjoying some liquid meals such as smoothies or blended soups.

So go ahead and indulge occasionally, and try to keep the following quotes in mind when you're ready to jump back on the clean-eating wagon."

~Sarah Ottino, OGF Founder

"Managing the perfect body weight is not a complicated rocket science. Our body is made up of food which we eat during our day to day life. If we are overweight or obese at the moment then one thing is certain that the food which we eat is unhealthy."

~Subodh Gupta

"Far too many of us have the impression that any food that keeps us slim and beautiful is also tasteless and devoid of pleasure. But the foods and recipes that nourish your beauty from the inside aren't bitter pills to swallow - they're pleasure and pampering... The foods that keep you feeling great and fitting in skinny jeans aren't made with low-fat, sugar-free, or zero-calorie processed ingredients. Those ingredients are devoid of pleasure - for your taste buds and your beauty."

~ Jolene Hart, Eat Pretty

"Take care of your body. it's the only place you have to live."

~Jim Rohn

"Contrary to the assumption that food is where we get our energy from, modern life has turned the processing of foods by the body into a business that exacts the biggest energy drain. we are constantly eating and munching... most of what we throw in today has minimal nutritional value, so all the energy we invest in its chewing, swallowing, digesting and absorbing gives minimal return on investment... Sometimes we spend more energy processing the food than we actually get from the food itself."

~ Dr. Alejandro Junger, Clean

"When we strip away the layers of lipstick, powder, and primer and bring beauty back to its barest place, we see that the essential building blocks of beauty are the nutrients in the foods we take in each day."

~Jolene Hart, Eat Pretty

"If you do nothing more in your life than start to eat lighter in the evening and leave twelve hours between dinner one night and breakfast the next day, you will find that you have more energy and improve your overall health."

~ Dr. Alejandro Junger, Clean

"Everywhere I go around the world, there's not a single person I've met that doesn't know that fruits and vegetables are good for them. We all know it. It's not about the knowing, it's about the doing."

~ Joe Cross, Food Choices Documentary

"Obligation isn't nearly as strong a driving force as desire. We always make time for what we want.

~Dr. Alejandro Junger, Clean

"You know, one of the hardest things for people to give up is dairy, and they're sometimes really resistant to it, so one of the things I tell people is, "well, why don't you look at the evidence "and then decide." Because I've always said taking control of your health is not doing what I say instead of what other people say, taking control of your health is looking at the information and making a conscious choice about what you want to do."

~Dr. Michael Greger, Food Choices Documentary

"Real health, durable and joyous, comes from detoxification, removal of the poisons by wisdom, insight into the true nature of reality, the experience of the self being one with the universe, filled with energy and bliss, not needing to be greedy, not fearing or hating anyone, but being joyfully compassionate to all, seen as ultimately the same as oneself and beautiful in their relative difference - just as one sees one's beloved child or lover or good friend."

~Professor Robert Thurman, Clean
